At PLAY

a creative approach to everyday photography

with Celina Bailey

NEXT SESSION: 2/17/25 TO 4/25/25

(with every other week off to work on assignments)

Class Overview:

I have found that to harness my creativity, I always do best by setting creative challenges and stepping out of my comfort zone. My most successful attempts have come from playing, being curious, exploring all kinds of new possibilities and most importantly ridding myself of expectations and pressure. In this course, we will do just that! Every day we will explore new creative techniques with curiosity, lots of trial and error. There will be rules broken, many rules followed a lot of hard work but all in good fun. One thing you can expect is failure, but there is no creativity without failure. During our time together we will also discuss what creativity is, inspiration and how to sustain a healthy creative life. This is an invitation to play, find new and unique ways to make photographs and be pleasantly surprised by the results. These techniques can be used to photograph your every day and even your clients, for photographers of any genre.

Student Reviews:

“For me, this class was about reflection. It works for anyone, at any level, anyone on a journey to better herself and her work. Or in life. When you read everyone's insights at the end of the class, you realize that there is something for everyone. While we are all on a journey to improve something, the ways to get there vary. There is no one answer. I think that's why I loved this class. I walk away with a few concrete ideas I will do to play and really hone my voice. I also walk about with specific changes to my organization and workflow. But I also come away with a world of ideas about slowing down, listening to my gut, and trusting it. (That's me, doing a backflip now.)” - Katja Warnken
